Begin your fairy tale adventure in Armello

Armello is a turn-based fantasy RPG with mechanics inspired by board games. You take on the role of one of a number of anthropomorphic animal characters and together with up to three friends quest to take the throne of the fantasy kingdom in which you live. Along the way you'll explore dungeons battle enemies cast spells and recruit followers all using a distinctive card-based system. Each hero has a unique set of abilities you can develop as you advance.

Armello's fantasy world is done in an animated style clearly inspired by classics like Redwall or the Secret of NIMH as well as the animation of Studio Ghibli. The characters are varied and charming and the world looks rich and inviting. The mechanics are relatively complex but the interface is simple and the process of learning the game is easy enough to understand. Each character is different not only in play style but also in personality and feel. Multiplayer is enjoyable although the different branches of the system don't generally combine in interesting ways. There isn't much incentive for players to interact in multiplayer especially in the early stages of the game. This is exacerbated by the fact that Armello is turn-based so multiplayer games move at the pace of the slowest player.

A compelling fantasy world

Despite a few issues in multiplayer Armello is a vivid and well-executed turn-based fantasy RPG.
